Accra – Angolan Vice President Bornito de Sousa Thursday in Accra witnessed, on behalf of President João Lourenço, the swearing-in of Ghana’s President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, for a second term.
This was during a ceremony that also saw Ghanaian Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia take an oath.
On the fringes of the swearing-in, Bornito de Sousa was welcomed by President Nana Akufo-Addo, to whom he delivered a message from President João Lourenço. The content of the message remains unknown.
Nana Akufo-Addo who was re-elected in December last year with 51,69 percent of the votes has thus taken an oath for a new four-year term as President of Ghana.
Ghana and Angola enjoy excellent diplomatic relations, friendship and cooperation in the fields of education, environment, aviation, fisheries and hydrocarbons.
It is a west African nation, bordered to the north by Burkina Faso, Togo (east), Gulf of Guinea (south) and Cote d’Ivoire (west).
