Mbanza Kongo - Some members of civil society in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province, said on Tuesday that bilateral cooperation between Angola and the United States of America (USA) has reached its "peak", with the visit of President Joe Biden, and are calling for more US investment in the country.

Reacting to ANGOP about the 3-day visit of the US President to Angola, the interlocutors were unanimous in stating that from now on, the two nations will further solidify cooperation in the diplomatic, economic and social fields.

For economist António Félix Kialungila, the strengthening of relations with the world's largest economy opens up good prospects for the country's development in the most varied areas.

He added that in the diplomatic field, Angola will increasingly strengthen its position as mediator in the conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda.

In the economic field, the source highlighted US investment in the Lobito Corridor, stressing that with its completion Angola will become a hub in southern African countries by connecting Zambia, Tanzania and the DRC by rail.

António Félix Kialungila admitted that the visit, for the first time, of a US president to the country will also encourage the American business class to further direct their investment to Angola.

"Before, US investment was more focused on the oil sector, but today we are seeing a different picture," he said.

In turn, lawyer Daniel Tati said that bilateral cooperation between Angola and the US has reached its peak, thanks to the efforts of Angolan diplomacy and the strategic vision of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

According to the source, the visit of the US President to Angola will further project the country's image across borders, thus opening the way to attract more tourists.

By the way, he urged national businessmen to take advantage of this unprecedented and historic visit by the President of the United States to Angola, who is accompanied by businessmen. DA/JL/DOJ
