Huambo – Chieftains in central Huambo province called on Thursday for greater advocacy from MPs in resolving the social problems that afflict the population to promote the sustainable development of communities.
The traditional authorities, who were speaking during a meeting with the deputies of the electoral constituency of this region of the country, said they hope that the MPs, as representatives of the people, would be swift in presenting the concerns of the communities of Huambo to the National Assembly.
They stressed the need to intensify their work as mediators with government bodies and as supervisors of the government’s programs to better reflect on the lives of citizens.
The Huambo constituency, which held a meeting with the traditional authorities for the first time, has three MPLA and two UNITA deputies elected in the general elections held in 2022.
With five kingdoms, namely Bailundo, Chiyaca, Chingolo, Huambo and Sambo, this province in central Angola has an estimated population of 2.7 million inhabitants, spread over the municipalities of Bailundo, Caála, Cachiungo, Chicala-Cholohanga, Chinjenje, Ecunha, Huambo, Londuimbali, Longonjo, Mungo and Ucuma, which cover 35,771 square kilometres.
