Luanda - The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, arrived in Luanda on Thursday for a working visit of a few hours to Angola, with a view to strengthening bilateral relations.
At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the South African statesman was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
According to the program of the visit, the South African statesman will hold a private meeting with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.
Angola and South Africa, both member countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) cooperate in several areas, with emphasis on energy, trade and investment, energy, defense and security, migration, infrastructure development, exploration of mineral resources and tourism.
Currently, the cooperation relations between the two countries have their legal framework based on a General Agreement in the Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural fields.
The agreements were signed on April 29, 1998, in Luanda, during the visit of the then South African President, Nelson Mandela, in a political and economic context of great limitations for both countries.
In this context, several Cooperation Agreements were signed between the two States, with emphasis on the Agreement on the Creation of the Bilateral Commission, signed on November 20, 2000, in Luanda. VIC/DOJ
