Luanda - The new representative of the Luvale-Luena people, Nyakatolo Anabela Ngambo Kaumba, expressed her concern Tuesday in Luanda about the low level of development in various sectors in eastern Moxico province.

These concerns were presented to the first vice-president of the National Assembly, Américo Cuononoca, during an audience granted to the sovereign.

Nyakatolo Anabela Ngambo Kaumba stressed the need for more access roads to the region, as well as the improvement and increase of facilities and professionals in the fields of education, health, agriculture, catering, among others.

According to the queen, there is an urgent need for greater local investment in various sectors, having expressed hopes that the current asymmetries will be reduced for the benefit of the population.

The traditional leader also expressed concern about the signal from Angolan Public Television (TPA) and National Radio, which is not being heard in various areas of the region.

As regards to the new political administrative division of the country, which was recently approved and leads to the division of Moxico province into two (Moxico and Moxico Leste), Nyakatolo Anabela Ngambo Kaumba welcomed the decision, since in her opinion it will contribute to services being closer to the population.

Nyakatolo is a royal title of nobility given to the sovereign (the line of succession is always female and matrilineal) of the Luvales-Luenas peoples when she assumes power.

The royal title originates from the traditions of the now-defunct Lunda Kingdom, which existed in south-central Africa. MGM/SC/AMP
