Menongue - The deputy ombudsman of Justice, Aguinaldo Cristóvão, recognized, in Cuando Cubango, the gradual increase in the culture of reporting by citizens when their rights are violated.

He made this statement on Tuesday when he was spoking to the press, after a meeting with the vice-governor for technical services and infrastructures of Cuando Cubango, João Bonifácio Cassanga, as part of his 4-day visit to that province.

Aguinaldo Cristóvão said that the visit is linked to strengthening cooperation between the Ombudsperson office and the Government of Cuando Cubango, as well as institutional strengthening with provincial representation.

It also includes publicizing the service that the institution provides and establishing interaction with local citizens, through hearings that will be held with interested parties.

He confirmed that in 2023, more than 7,000 complaints were recorded across the country, with the greatest incidence being those linked to the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and disputes with land and the right to information.

Regarding complaints against non-compliance with INSS payments, the provider clarified that they were only those linked to public administrations. Those of private interest are handled by the General Labor Inspectorate.

Part of the four-day working agenda of deputy ombudsman is meetings with the local human rights committee, with the president of the council of the Angolan Bar Association and a visit to the center of the Padre João Bosco shelter home.ALK/FF/PLB/ DOJ
