Luanda - Professionals from different media houses highlighted the openness of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in relation to the press.

This was during a two-hour interview the president granted to the public and private media houses in Luanda, in which national issues were raised in the political, economic and social field.

Reacting to the statesman's stance, journalist Amílcar Xavier, from TVZimbo, spoke of the objectivity in the Angolan leader's answers and the way his colleagues made questions.

The professional defended a greater regularity of interviews with the President of the Republic to address issues related to governance and the use that is made of public affairs, which is fundamental.

To Manuel Esperança, from Rádio Nacional de Angola, the head  of the Executive Power was “at ease”, answering, in a natural way, all the questions posed.

“This exercise was important. It is good that we, the journalists, are the spokespersons for many issues that the people do not have the possibility to ask and know what the President's point of view is”, he added.

In turn, the journalist of Radio MFM, Tony Fancy, stated that the Head of State was up to the questions raised.

President João Lourenço, according to Tony Fancy, was available to listen to any type of questioning and answered the questions without dodging.

Journalist Pedro Fernandes, from Rádio Luanda Antena Comercial (LAC), said that it was pertinent for the President to hear journalists' questions about the country's real social, political and economic situation.

César Esteves, from Edições Novembro, said that João Lourenço, similarly to his previous interview with the media, showed that he is open to addressing issues related to the country, in a “transparent and taboos-free way”.

The collective interview is part of a communication programme started in 2018, to address various topics about the reality of the country.
