Cuban Parliament Speaker expected in Luanda on Monday

Luanda - The Speaker of Cuba's National People's Assembly, Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández, is to arrive on Monday in the Province of Luanda for a three-day official visit aiming to hold talks with Angolan parliamentarians, as part of the historic relations between the two institutions.

According to a note ANGOP had access, after his arrival, the Speaker of the Cuban Parliament is scheduled to hold a courtesy meeting with his Angolan counterpart, Carolina Cerqueira.

On Wednesday, the Cuban parliamentary delegation will attend the 4th Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the National Assembly.

On the same day, the Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández will take a guided tour of the National Assembly palace, watch the institutional video and sign the book of honour, as well as a visit to the Dr António Agostinho Neto Memorial and the sarcophagus of the former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos.

The Cuban Parliament delegation will also visit the Cardinal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex.

On the last day of the visit, the leader of the Cuban Parliament will honour Commander Raúl Díaz-Arguelles by laying a wreath at the Alto das Cruzes Cemetery.

Angola and Cuba mantains cooperation relations in several fields such as security, education, health, transport, public works, construction, oil, sports, culture, tourism and agriculture.

The two states established diplomatic relations on 15 November 1975 by signing a General Cooperation Agreement, four days after the proclamation of Angola's independence day.
