Sumbe - The chairperson of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Manuel Pereira da Silva, today in Sumbe, Cuanza Sul province, warned provincial and municipal commissioners to refrain from partisan activities.
"Time and again, some members of the provincial and municipal commissions are absent to take part in political party activities, calling into question the principle of impartiality and independence," he said as he swore in seven new members of the Provincial Electoral Commission (CPE).
He said that this kind of behaviour violates the principle of independence, impartiality and transparency.
He warned that "if these principles are not observed, the Law and the Constitution will be permanently violated, and there will be a need for sanctions".
The end of the term of office and death of the previous commissioners dictated the entry of seven new ones into the Cuanza Sul Provincial Electoral Commission (CNE).
