Praia – The Head of State, João Lourenço, stated this Monday in Praia city, capital of Cape Verde, that Angola has managed to implement with success the negotiated programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Angolan statesman, that was speaking in the solemn session of the Cape Verde National Assembly (parliament), said that the implementation of the programme resulted in the growth of the Angolan economy, especially the private sector.
The Head of State stressed that despite the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic the Angolan government continues to make important investments in the production and distribution of energy and water.
The Angolan Head of State pointed as well the investments made in the construction of infrastructures in the sectors of health and education accompanied by admission, through public competition, of thousands of medical and teaching staff.
Among the programmes implemented in the country João Lourenço mentioned the Integrated Plan of Intervention in the Municipalities (PIIM) that have allowed the extension of more public services to the municipalities.
The Head of State reaffirmed that in August this year Angola will hold its fifth general elections in an environment of harmony and freedom.
“After decades of war Angola has been living for 20 years a situation of lasting and irreversible effective peace in an environment of perfect national reconciliation”, emphasized the President.
For the Head of State, Cape Verde is a truly and undoubtedly an example of democracy in Africa that is consolidating daily with the contribution of its citizens.
Regarding the bilateral cooperation, the President pointed the need to establish a truly strategic partnership reinforcing the relationship and cooperation ties in the domains of public administration, education, agriculture, transports, tourism, services and parliamentary issues.
“In reality our two countries have resources and huge human potential that can allow greater exploration of cooperation areas in which we are stronger”, João Lourenço emphasised.
The Angolan statesman also expressed his conviction that the scheduled goals can be achieved through the imminent opening of the air route Luanda/Praia.
“Let´s make the most possible out of the CPLP (Portuguese language community) Mobility Agreement (…)”, highlighted the Head of State.
