Gaborone - Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, ended his working visit to Gaborone late on Friday afternoon with a brief meeting with his Botswana counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi.
During his stay in Gaborone, João Lourenço was received at the headquarters of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), in his capacity as chairman of this regional organization, where he unveiled the plaque symbolizing his first visit there.
The Angolan statesman toured the facilities of the SADC Secretariat and met with the members of the executive board and other officials of this organization, from whom he received detailed information on how it works.
João Lourenço watched a video on the SADC Vision and the priority areas of the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP 2020-2030), on the mandate, functions and structure of the Secretariat and the distribution of responsibilities.
The visit to the SADC Secretariat keeps with a tradition of the organization whereby the chairman of the community visits its headquarters in Gaborone to interact with the institution's officials and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Botswana. IZ/ART/DAN/AMP
