Ndalatando - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Wednesday visited the "Quilómetro 11" housing project, in Ndalatando, Cuanza Norte province, to be informed about the progress of the works and to launch the construction of 500 more social houses.
Estimated at four billion kwanzas, the project for 500 three-bedroom homes, to be built as part of an initiative of the Presidency of the Republic, aims to improve housing conditions in the province.
The investment will complement the local government initiative, which includes directed self-building and social services in the same area.
Work on the "Quilometro 11" project began in May 2020 and is being funded by contributions and donations from individuals, which, according to the governor of Cuanza Norte, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, is delaying the work.
The Quilometro 11 housing estate has drinking water, supplied by an artesian well, electricity from the public grid and roads.
It also has more than 100 private houses under construction and 12 model homes of different types, already concluded, built by the provincial government.
There are plans to build a police station, primary school, nursery school, church, health post, fire station, commercial area and recreational and sports infrastructures.
The neighbourhood will benefit from a water supply pipeline, derived from the new Ndalatando collection station, which will be built on the Lucala river.
The project, located 11 kilometres from Ndalatando, is being built on an area of 262.32 hectares, for more than three thousand plots.
