Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, is already in Luanda, after a three-day working visit in the province of Cunene, where he inaugurated the local General Hospital.
The new hospital unit replaces the previous one partially destroyed by a fire in 2020.
The works of the new Ondjiva General Hospital, in the Naipalala Ill neighborhood, budgeted at 52 million euros, began in 2021.
The hospital will have services of Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, Stomatology, Emergency, Surgery, Simple and Computerized X-Ray (CT), Oxygen Factory, Hemodialysis, as well as a jango to welcome relatives of patients, Psychiatry, among others.
João Lourenço's three-day work agenda in Cunene also included the holding of the Local Governance Council, which brought together the 18 provincial governors and ministers to address the socio-economic situation of the country as well as evaluate the progress of social impact projects.
Today, the last day of the visit, the President went to the municipality of Cuvelai, where he checked the progress of the construction works of the Ndue dam, one of the four structuring projects to combat the cyclical drought in this province, which is expected to benefit more than 50 thousand families.
