Luanda - President João Lourenço was briefed Thursday in Luanda on the current operations of the ExxonMobil Corporation in oil block 15, located about 145 kilometers west of the coast of Zaire province, in Angolan deep waters.
The information was disclosed by ExxonMobil's Vice President for Deepwater Operations, Hunter Farris, during an audience granted by the Angolan Head of State at the Presidential Palace in Luanda.
"We were very pleased to meet with the Angolan President to provide him with an update on our operations in Block 15 and our 30-year presence in Angola," he told journalists after the meeting.
Mr. Farris expressed his satisfaction with his company's oil exploration successes in Angola, noting that ExxonMobil Corporation has invested approximately 30 billion US dollars in the oil sector during its 30-year presence in Angola.
ExxonMobil has a significant presence in Angola, focusing primarily on deepwater oil exploration and production.
The company has interests in three deepwater blocks covering nearly 2 million gross acres in the country.
Through its subsidiary Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, ExxonMobil has developed significant operations in Block 15, including holding public tenders for various services related to its activities.
The company's exploration in the Namibe Basin involves exploratory drilling in a frontier area of Angola with the potential for significant hydrocarbon discoveries.
Based on the results of ongoing drilling campaigns, ExxonMobil could invest up to 15 billion US dollars in the Namibe Basin by 2030, reinforcing its commitment to the development of Angola's oil sector.
