Luanda – Angolan President, João Lourenço, on Sunday addressed a congratulations message to his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on the commemoration of France’s National Day.
France commemorates on 14th July its National Day, in memory of the conquest and dismantling of Bastille (former Royal prison that symbolised the despotic monarchic regime of 18th century France) in 1789, in what became known as the French Revolution.
The Angolan Head of State’s message reaffirms his intention to continue to strengthen the friendship ties between both peoples and countries, aiming at the reinforcement of the bilateral co-operation.
Angola and France co-operate in various domains and, since 2023, have re-launched this co-operation with the signing of four new legal instruments, during a visit of President Macron.
Speaking to ANGOP, the French ambassador to Angola, Sophie Aubert, stressed that after the signing of the General Co-operation Agreement in 1982 the two countries began to focus on the sector of higher education, as well as in vocational training.
She stressed that the present priority for the two countries is food security, environment preservation and the consolidation of sustainable infrastructures, considering that France is the top main investor in Angola, with about 40 billion Euros.
