Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, spoke on Wednesday afternoon on the phone with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, in another step for the pacification of eastern DRC.
The Angolan Head of State, Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, is the mediator appointed by the African Union to find a peace solution in the unstable eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo
Last Monday, the Democratic Congo and Rwanda approved, in Luanda, a document called the Concept of Operations (CONOP), an instrument that will guide the implementation of the Harmonized Plan for the Neutralization of the FDLR.
The document, approved during the sixth ministerial meeting on the peace process in eastern DRC, mediated by Angola, will also facilitate the Disengagement of Forces/Lifting of Rwanda's defense measures.
The delegations were led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophonie of the DRC, Therese Wagner, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda, Olivier Nduhungirehe, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Téte António.
During the meeting, the Ministers concluded on the need to continue negotiations as soon as possible on the remaining aspects of the draft Agreement, as submitted to the Parties by the Angolan President, João Lourenço, last August. ART/DOJ
