Luanda - President João Lourenço assessed on Friday the level of execution of the works taking place at Luanda’s Neves Bendinha urban district, as part of the program to rehabilitate and upgrade roads in Angola’s capital.
The works started in September 2023 are being carried out by the Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil and include the rehabilitation and construction of integrated infrastructures, with particular emphasis on wastewater and rainwater drainage, public lighting, sidewalks and asphalting of the 26 streets in that district.
Sided by government officials, the president was told a bit more about the works taking place in that part of the country’s capital by Luanda provincial government staff linked to the project.
The first phase of the project is taking place in five of the nine municipalities, namely Kilamba Kiaxi, Viana, Belas, Cazenga and Luanda.
The program to improve Luanda's roads follows the authorization of the Presidential Decree of March 16 this year, whose works have been allocated 268.4 million US dollars for expenditure.
Rehabilitation work has been completed in some streets of the district impacting on improving mobility and circulation. AFL/VIC/TED/AMP
