Luanda - President João Lourenço on Thursday expressed his confidence that Angola's future will be bright, given its potential to achieve development in the next 20 to 30 years.

Speaking in an interview to the US newspaper “The New York Time”, broadcasted by Angola's  Public Television TPA, the Angolan statesman spoke of the need to maintain the right policies in order to achieve sustainable development.

João Lourenço highlighted the need for Angola to continue to invest seriously in infrastructure, such as more roads, railways, ports, airports, schools and hospitals, among others.

The Angolan president pointed to investment in education as essential, especially in higher education, stressing that he sees the country with a lot of optimism and foresees “a bright future for Angola”.

“Our country is young, youth has always played an important role in all phases of our lives and I have faith that it will continue to do so,” Lourenço said.
João Lourenço emphasized that, “in 20 years' time Angola will be better than what we have today”.

In his interview to the New York newspaper, which lasted around an hour, the Head of State discussed, among other things, Angolan-US cooperation, the Lobito Corridor, the relationship with China, as well as current political affairs in the southern region of the African continent. VIC/TED/AMP
