Mbanza Kongo – Mbanza Kongo - A network of alleged illegal migrant traffickers, made up of Angolan nationals and citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was dismantled Friday by the National Police in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province.
The network operated in the Kinshasa/Luvo/Mbanza Kongo/Luanda corridor, introducing illegal immigrants from this neighboring country into the national territory in exchange for money.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, the spokesperson for the Zaire Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, said there are three Angolans and another one from DRC, that facilitated the entry of illegal foreigners from the Luvo border, using clandestine routes.
“The work was planned from DRC, where one of the group members accompanied the immigrants to the Luvo border. From the border, another guide took them to their residence in the city of Mbanza Kongo, where they were waited on by two accomplices coming from Luanda with the aim of transporting them from this city to the country's capital”, explained the spokesperson.
The source said it was a properly organized group that, with everything planned, operated in the Kinshasa/Luanda corridor, passing through the border of the municipality of Luvo, Zaire province.
He added that during the micro-operation, which involved officials from the Border Police and also the Department of Criminal Investigation (DIIP), five DRC citizens accompanied by four children were detained in the village of Nkoko (Luvo).
The national citizens aged between 35 and 45 will soon be referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office, while foreign citizens were handed over to the local directorate of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) for legal procedures. The province of Zaire shares a 310 km border with the DRC. JL/MRA/DOJ
