Cacuaco – The Attorney General's Office (PGR) considered 'fruitful' the recent mission to Switzerland by the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Gróz, to take steps with local authorities in the context of the recovery of assets located in that country in favor of the Angolan State.
This information was delivered to press on Friday, in Luanda, by the director of the Institutional Communication Office of the PGR, Álvaro da Silva João, on the sidelines of a lecture on 'The Legal Regime of Asset Recovery in Angola: Management of Assets and Seizure until the Judicial Decision of Confiscation'.
Álvaro da Silva João, also a magistrate of the Public Prosecutor's Office, clarified that the Attorney General of the Republic travelled to Switzerland to establish contacts with that State, in order to request the recovery of assets that are located in that country.
He explained that this involves legal mechanisms with Switzerland, as well as it is necessary for a judgment of the Angolan State to be recognized in this Swiss country to decide on the delivery of these goods.
'When you talk about delivering these goods, it doesn't mean that you go and get them, they give me what you have and I bring it to my country. Things don't work that way very much,' he clarified.
'In our communiqué we were very clear that the important thing is that these assets pass into the patrimonial sphere of the State. This involves negotiations, because due to the volume of assets based there, removing them abruptly creates imbalances in another economy,' he added.
Noting that no one wants to weaken their economy, he said that there are mechanisms to recover these assets without them coming directly to Angola, but passing into their patrimonial sphere and being at their disposal to use them.
He informed, on the other hand, that there is no slowdown in the recovery of assets, as the situations are appearing and are being treated with the same dynamics. SEC/ART/DOJ
