Luanda – Angola’s Political parties running in the general elections to take place on August 24 have expressed satisfaction with the way they have been positioned in the ballot.

The political parties have also expressed satisfaction with the positions of airtime on radio and television as stipulated by the draw held by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

Speaking to the press at the end of the draw, representatives of the political parties were unanimous in recognizing the smoothness of the process.

According to Pedro Neto, ruling MPLA's representative, the party’s position (8th) on the ballot paper is advantageous, hence they are comfortable.

In relation to the airtime on radio and television, which will serve to present the party’s government programme for the next five years, the politician said that they are also not bad.

Horácio Junjuvile, representative of the country’s major opposition party UNITA, said the positioning in the ballot was the result of a random selection, having emphasized that the third position they have been listed in the ballot is positive and satisfactory for his party.

Carlos Jacinto, representative of the coalition CASA-CE, said the 5th position makes it easy for them to direct voters to choose his political denomination.

The Social Renewal Party (PRS) representative, António Francisco, on his turn, said his party will intensify its political activity, so that voters can identify it in the 7th position.

Tiago Soares, APN representative, which is in 6th position, said the important thing is to mobilize voters to strengthen Angolan democracy.

The new political formations, specifically the PHA and the P-Njango, were also satisfied with their position.

According to Simba Lua, the PHA's position, being listed in the first position in the ballot gives them full satisfaction.

The P-Njango representative Rufino Paulo said the second position satisfies his party because it is easy to find.

The draw for the positioning on the ballot is defined sequentially as it follows from the first to last position the PHA, P-Njango, UNITA, FNLA, CASA-CE, APN, PRS and MPLA.

For airtime on radio, the positioning is PRS, CASA-CE, MPLA, UNITA, PHA, P-Njango, APN and FNLA.

For airtime on television, the order is PHA, CASA-CE, PRS, FNLA, UNITA, APN, P-NJANGO and MPLA.

This year's elections, which will have the participation of Angolans in the diaspora for the first time, are the fifth in Angola's history, after those of 1992, 2008, 2012 and 2017.

Roughly 14.399 million voters are expected to cast the ballot, including 22,560 abroad.
