State Budget for 2023 with 1.5 billion kwanzas for education sector

Luanda – The Education sector will get Akz 1.5 billion from the Draft State Budget (OGE) for 2023, which has revenues estimated at 20.104 billion kwanzas, said Thursday in Luanda, the minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa.

The minister, who was speaking at the end of the Cabinet Council meeting, led by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, highlighted that the Draft Budget foresees 1.3 billion kwanzas for the health sector.

She said that the social sector, with particular emphasis on Education and Health, will deserve more attention from the 2023 Budget.

 

Vera Daves de Sousa said that in general the social sector comprises all the ministries, provincial governments and municipal administrations which have expenditure classified as social.

 

The finance minister added that economic matters will have an increase of 46.4%, looking at the expenditure functions and compared with the 2022 State Budget.

 

The forecast points to an increase of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at 3,3%.

 

The ordinary session of the Cabinet Council meeting also analyzed documents linked to the oil field, the draft law on Non-governmental organization (NGO) and the project for 2023-2025 National Plan for the Promotion and Development of Livestock (Planapecuária).

 

According to the final communiqué of the session led by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the Draft Budget for 2023 estimates a benchmark price of USD 75 per barrel of oil and an average oil production of 1.18 million barrels.

 

The final communiqué advances that the OGE foresees an inflation rate of 11,1% and real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 3,3%, as compared to the 2.7 percent growth projected for 2022.

 

The 2023 Draft Budget has already entered the National Assembly (parliament) for analysis and approval by the MPs.
