Luanda – The literary work “Doctor António Agostinho Neto, an exceptional man of his time”, written by the former ambassador of Cuba to Angola, Oscar Oramas Oliva, was presented this week in the Cuban provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Camaguey and Granma.

The information was provided Saturday by the Angolan Embassy in Cuba, stressing that the book is an essay that is the result of research and memories of the former diplomat, along with testimonies from those who knew and were close to the first President of Angola.

According to a press release sent to ANGOP, in the book with 176 pages, Oramas Oliva stresses that “the Father of the Angolan Nation could not exercise the profession of physician, but the one he exercised healed the soul of a colonized people”.

Through the book, Oramas Oliva states that Agostinho Neto, throughout his fruitful existence worked for his Sacred Hope: the independence of Angola; his patience, tenacity and firmness. The conviction that he was fighting in Angola for ideals and dreams that went beyond the borders from Cabinda to Cunene, were the essential key to the correctness of his course at the head of his country in dark moments.

Oscar Oramas Oliva demonstrates that Agostinho Neto was a giant of thought and with the most revolutionary action, before and after the independence and he was and is an example of close friendship with the Cuban people especially with the former leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

Oscar Oramas Oliva is Master in History of Art, writer and was the first Cuban ambassador to Angola. He is also the author of several books on the decolonization process in Africa and on political personalities of the cradle continent, a trajectory that makes him a leading expert on the subject.

The work of the Cuban diplomat has already been presented in the provinces of Guantanamo and Havana and it is expected that in early 2023 it will be launched in Angola, in Portuguese version.
