Luanda - Namibia on Tuesday in Luanda expressed its intention to count on Angola's experience in the field of electoral processes in the near future.

According to the president of the National Electoral Commission of Namibia, Elsie Nghikembua, who was speaking at the end of the meeting with the Angolan counterpart, her country will hold elections next year, which is why she wants to count on Angola's support.

According to Elsie Nghikembua, the demonstration of speed of the technology used in the last Angolan electoral election, held on August 24, 2022, arouses interest from the Namibian side.

“Namibia was impressed with Angola, which held elections recently, by the speed with which the results were announced. We need to improve this area and with the experience that has been passed on to us, we have an idea of what to do and how to do it”, she stressed.

Elsie Nghikembua said that CNE Angola will pass on the experience of carrying out electoral elections, with regard to voter registration, civic education, vote counting and the announcement of final results, organization, training of electoral agents, electoral rolls and registration, among other components.

According to the official, it is necessary to understand how Angola's Electoral Law works, because these laws determine how elections should be held, by whom and how.

“We are doing this because we care about the stability of our countries and democratic processes in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region,” she emphasized.

The National Electoral Commission, under the terms of Article 107 of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, is an independent body that organizes, executes, coordinates and conducts electoral processes.

Under the terms of the same article, the CNE is responsible for organizing all electoral logistics. FMA/VIC/TED/DOJ
