Luanda - The Minister of State and Head of the Military Office of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, on Thursday in Luanda, urged the defense and security forces to relentlessly defend against any demonstration or attempt to undermine the constitutional order.
Speaking at the meeting of the military chiefs of the Angolan Armed Forces, the Minister of State encouraged the defense and security forces not to let their guard down and to redouble their vigilance and combat readiness "to prevent, detect and stop any internal or external maneuvers that could or will endanger the harmony, peace and well-being of Angolans."
According to the Minister of State, the defense and security bodies are called to develop synergies to combat and maintain order, tranquility and peace throughout the national territory against various negative phenomena that directly or indirectly compromise national security.
The Minister added that the defense of the country does not only include the use of weapons, but goes beyond military battles, such as the fight against economic and financial crimes, human trafficking, cybercrime, cryptocurrencies, smuggling of fuel and mineral resources, destruction of public property, border violations and illegal immigration.
Furtado highlighted the fact that the meeting takes place in the year in which the country celebrates the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of its national independence, which he considers a historic achievement that the Angolan people have hard-won after a long and difficult struggle led by several generations of Angolans.
The Minister emphasized that the defense and consolidation of this important historical achievement "has only been possible thanks to the enormous sacrifices made by our people, especially the young, who from Cabinda to Cunene and from the sea to the east have spared no effort, sacrificing their lives in difficult circumstances to defend independence, sovereignty and maintain the peace of which the Angolan people should be proud today.
The meeting, which brings together the military leaders of the various units, institutions and military training schools of the Angolan Armed Forces, takes stock of the operational, educational, patriotic and civic-moral aspects of the service. DC /AMP
