Luanda - The Minister of State and Head of the Military Affairs Office of the President of Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, on Wednesday in the Province of Luanda called for more efficient control of weapons in military and police units to prevent them from falling into the hands of criminals.

The minister was speaking at the inauguration and promotion ceremony to the rank of general officer of military personnel, recently appointed by the Angolan Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), João Lourenço.

He said that attention has been drawn to be careful with the technical means placed in military and police units, especially weapons and ammunition, because the country is witnessing various crimes and trafficking by citizens using firearms.

On the other hand, the official disapproved some statements made by certain people who, after being retired, violate all standards, rules and procedures that a general must have, constituting an act of crime against the State.

In this case, he remembered that military justice bodies have the responsibility to monitor and take measures that are required under the law.

At the ceremony, were sworn in António Cassova, to the post of director of the Office of the Chief of the Military Intelligence and Security Service, Deolinda Paulo Sanjimba, to the position of head of the Electronic Security Directorate of the Military Intelligence and Security Service and Francisco Ramos da Cruz, to the post of Head of the Organization and Information Directorate of the Main Military Counter-Intelligence of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces,

Other officials who were sworn in are João Paulo Suzana, as advisor to the head of the Military Intelligence and Security Service, Miguel Quinanga, as head of the Operational Directorate of the Main Directorate of Military Counter-Intelligence of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces and António Conceição Francisco for the position of deputy commander for Patriotic Education of the Presidential Defense Unit of the Military House of the President of the Republic.
