Luanda - Foreign Minister Téte António met Wednesday in New York with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, Rosemary DiCarlo, with whom he discussed the Luanda Process and the Angolan presidency of the African Union (AU).
According to a press release sent to ANGOP, DiCarlo praised Angola's mediation efforts to defuse tensions in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and expressed her willingness to support the country in this engagement.
Téte António, who was on a working visit to the United Nations, held a working meeting with the Permanent Representative of El Salvador, Egriselda López, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and the possibility of holding a political consultation meeting in the second half of 2025.
On the second and last day of the visit, the Angolan Minister also met with the Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, Nicolas de Rivière.
Téte António also received Zénon Ngay Mukongo, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the United Nations.
During the meeting, the two diplomats discussed the Luanda process for peace in the east of the DRC and the agenda for Angola's presidency of the African Union, which begins on February 15, 2025. VIC/AMP
