Luanda - The level of military relations between Angola and China was highlighted Tuesday in Luanda during the accreditation of the new defence attaché at the Chinese embassy in Angola, senior colonel Ji Meng.

Speaking at the acceptance and accreditation ceremony on behalf of the Minister for National Defence and National Veterans, João Ernesto dos Santos, the national director for Defence Policy, Barbosa Epalanga, said that the ceremony strengthened the relationship between the two states, noting the high rank of the new attaché.

He explained that Angola and China have three instruments of cooperation underway, namely between the respective ministries of defence, in the defence industry and the agreement for the free supply of non-lethal military equipment.

On the occasion, Ji Meng, the third Defence attaché since there was an embassy in Angola, said that Angola was an important country in Africa and its armed forces were fundamental to the stability of the southern region of the continent.

He said that China highly values relations with the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and is willing to raise cooperation to the highest level, based on the principle of mutual advantages.

According to the senior official of the Asian "giant," military cooperation is a fundamental part of relations between the two countries and over the last 40 years has always been at acceptable levels.
