Ndalatando - The delegation of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) in the Province of Cuanza-Norte urged women in the sector's bodies on Tuesday, in Ndalatando city, to observe the ethics and regulations of the institution, namely the correct use of the uniform in order to gain respect and trust from citizens.
The appeal was made by the director of Institutional Communication and Press of the provincial delegation of Minint, Intendant Esperança Rodrigues, when he was advising against wearing uniforms that fit the body, flashy lipsticks, extravagant nails, sunglasses and artificial hair that make it difficult for women in uniform to wear berets or military caps.
The speaker lamented the fact that some women in uniform, in full activity, were more concerned with their personal image than with their duty to guarantee public safety.
She described such behaviour as contrary to the institution's functional regulations and liable to disciplinary measures, as it clashed with the regulations and the profile of the personnel, stressing the need to avoid wearing the uniform off duty as well as abusing it to engage in acts considered indecent.
She asked the women to serve as an example to society and to conduct themselves in a way that inspires public confidence, as agents of law and order.
The activity, which was part of the celebrations for 8 March - International Women's Day, was promoted by the local board of MININT in partnership with the Women's Police Network of Angola (REMPA), aimed at the female staff of that institution. LJ/DS/VIC/MRA/DOJ
