Luanda - Jurist Júlia Ferreira on Thursday, in Luanda, ceased her duties as judge of the Constitutional Court (TC), due to the expiry of her mandate, now becoming a retired judge.
The Constitution establishes that the TC Judge serves a single non-renewable seven-year term.
At the jubilation ceremony, the presiding judge of the TC, Laurinda Cardoso, considered Júlia Ferreira a woman of remarkable dedication and commitment who closes a brilliant chapter of her career.
The presiding judge of the TC said that Júlia Ferreira carried out her task, for seven years, with professional excellence, being exemplary and assertive in her decisions.
She highlighted the integrity and deep devotion of justice in defending the fundamental values of the Constitution.
On the other hand, Júlia Ferreira said that her stay at the Constituional Court allowed her to gain greater legal knowledge and feel the importance of respect and protection that the Constitution of the Republic should deserve.
She praised the exercise that the Court has undertaken in order to not only to publicize its importance more, but also to always guarantee its full implementation in terms of fundamental rights and constitutional principles.
Júlia de Fátima Leite da Silva Ferreira, was born in Luanda, on September 9, 1964.
In 1988 she graduated in Law from Agostinho Neto University.
In 1998, she completed the Master's Degree in Political Sciences and Business, from the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Clássica university of Lisbon, Portugal.
In 1999, she completed the Postgraduate Course in Administrative Political Sciences, Administrative Sector, at the Faculty of Law of the Classic University of Lisbon.
Among other positions, she was a member of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) from 2005 to 2017, member of the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Constitutional Court, 2019, as well as President of the 2nd Chamber of the Constitutional Court.
She was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court in 2017.
