Luanda - US President Joe Biden is already at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta, in Luanda, for a meeting with his Angolan counterpart João Lourenço, as part of the state visit, focused on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Upon arrival, Joe Biden was received with military honors and welcome greetings from the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, followed by the singing of the anthems of the two countries, performed by the Presidency band.
At the meeting, the two Presidents will have the opportunity to assess the effectiveness of existing agreements and project new areas of investment, especially involving the private sector.
Throughout the visit, Joe Biden is expected to make several announcements about the Lobito Corridor, but also about areas such as health, food security or agribusiness.
This is the first official visit by a U.S. statesman to Angola and aims to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries.
Angola and the U.S. are working to overcome a number of pressing and critical challenges, such as improving infrastructure in Africa and increasing economic opportunities and sustainable development.
The expansion of technologies and scientific cooperation, the strengthening of peace and security and the strengthening of food security are also other priorities defined by the partners.
After the bilateral meeting, Joe Biden heads to the Museum of Slavery, where he will deliver a speech to highlight the enduring strength and relevance of U.S. relations with Angola, in particular, and Africa, in general, as well as reference to addressing a wide range of global challenges.
On Wednesday, the US statesman will travel to the province of Benguela, to learn about the food processing plant of the Cart Group and visit the port of Lobito, an important infrastructure of the Lobito Corridor.
President Joe Biden's agenda in Benguela also includes participation in the Angola-US Business Forum.
