Luanda - Indian entrepreneurs stepped up their commitment to the Angolan market in the last three years, with investments in various sectors, mainly in the provinces of Benguela, Lunda Sul and Namibe.

The fact was confirmed by that country's ambassador to Angola, Pratibha Parkar, after an audience the president João Lourenço granted to her on Tuesday.

The diplomat spoke of the interest of the Indian entrepreneurs in the fields of agriculture, food processing, health and mining.

“Indian businessmen are very interested in the various existing business opportunities in Angola”, said  Pratibha Parkar.

The Angolan market presents business opportunities in productive sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, industry, tourism and services, in addition to the usual oil and gas sector.

The diplomat said that the meeting with the Angolan President also addressed bilateral cooperation.

As for the balance of payments between the two countries, she said it was favourable for Angola and underlined that bilateral trade had reached USD 4 billion in recent years.

The previous volume of business stood at USD3 billion, with 10 percent of that figure resulting from the sale of oil from Angola to the Asian country.

India established diplomatic relations with Angola in 1985 and, since then, has maintained an extremely cordial cooperation.
