Cabinda - The inspector-general of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE), João Pinto Manuel Francisco, on Monday in Cabinda city, discouraged denunciations by individuals and groups without any proof.

Speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with Cabinda's deputy governor for political and social sector, Miguel de Oliveira, the IGAE leader said that such accusations without proof often tarnish the good name of both private and corporate entities.

“IGAE is open to receive complaints of possible criminal acts from all citizens, but they must be accompanied by credible information,” Francisco said.

According to the inspector general, who is on a 48-hour visit to Cabinda province, around 50 percent of the complaints that reach the IGAE throughout the country are without sufficient information to open criminal proceedings.

“It's normal in public administration when a citizen feels aggrieved and reports the incident to the competent authorities, but it must be true in order to facilitate the work of the inspectors,” he said.

João Francisco added that, as part of the fight against corruption underway in the country, citizens should continue to be made aware of the new legislation, the new code of administrative procedure and the responsibility of the state and natural and legal entities.

Besides visits to public institutions, João Manuel Francisco will be giving a lecture on ethics in public administration. JFC/JL/AMP
