Luanda - The inspector-general of the state, João Francisco, Friday in Luanda, defended the need to strengthen professional secrecy and data protection of those inspected, with the aim to provide a public administration that better serves the citizens.

Addressing a seminar on “The Deontology of Public Service”, the minister said the actions of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) must always observe discipline, obedience and respect for the law, as well as ethics, honesty and loyalty.

“The IGAE must guarantee transparency and legality, always with reserve as one of the characteristics of its inspection activity, otherwise the trust of all institutions will be at risk,” the official said.

João Francisco stressed the need to strengthen the quality of the institution's services, through examples of leadership that add value and are committed to the government’s goals of moralizing society, guaranteeing cohesion and security in the institutions, through respect for legality, local customs and public morality.

The official urged IGAE inspectors “not to fuel accusations and promote generalized mistrust”, but to observe and respect professional and legal guarantees, such as the presumption of innocence, good name and the good image of every citizen.

He recalled that the prevention of corruption requires the effort and collaboration of all institutions and private entities.

IGAE is an internal control institution, whose activity is carried out throughout national territory, essentially on the services of the direct and indirect administration of the state, as well as the autonomous administration.

Its mission extends to diplomatic and consular missions, permanent representations and companies that are part of the public business sector abroad. OPF/QCB/TED/AMP
