Luanda - The Angolan and the Democratic Republic of Congo air forces carried out, last Friday, in Kinshasa, a joint exercise to assess the readiness and training of military aviation specialists from both countries.
According to an ANGOP's source, the Kinshasa air demonstration was the proof that Angola and the DRC gave of their unequivocal willingness to cooperate and maintain good neighbourly relations.
He added that the results of the exercise impressed politicians and soldiers who witnessed the event.
Last Monday, the President of the DRC, Félix Tshisekedi, visited Angola for a meeting with his counterpart João Lourenço, having requested support for strengthening capacity of your country's Defence and Security Forces.
The joint air force operation of both countries was an expression of the will of the highest representative of the Democratic Republic of Congo “This aerial exercise is an opportunity offered to our young pilots for the exchange of experience with their Angolan counterparts, for their service on specialized machines”, said Major-General Léon Richard Kasonga Cibangu, spokesman for the DRC Armed Forces, when launching military maneuvers.
At Ndjili Airport, which served as the training operation's ground centre, senior political and military figures from the DRC, as well as senior officials from the Angolan Armed Forces.
