Luanda – The Angolan government submitted Tuesday the draft General State Budget (OGE) for 2024 to the National Assembly, which foresees a five percent salary increase for public servants.
Delivered by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, the 2024-OGE proposal includes estimated revenues and expenses of 24 billion Kwanzas.
The economic projections for the next financial year were calculated based on an average price per barrel of oil at 65.00 US dollar and an average daily oil production of 1.6 million barrels.
Speaking to the press, José de Lima Massano the draft State Budget proposal seeks to continue large investments in the most varied areas, with the purpose of improving the social conditions of citizens.
According to the Minister of State, the government considered increasing salaries of public servants by around five percent.
"We also plan to create spaces for the recruitment of more professionals, in the next financial year, in the health, education and agriculture sectors", the official said.
Balanced OGE
The Minister of State considered the aforementioned proposal to be balanced, as it seeks to meet the objectives and goals contained in the National Development Plan (PND).
"The proposal leads us to the continuous investment of human capital, therefore, we will continue to invest in the areas of health, education and, in general, social well-being", Masssano said.
Capitalization of financial institutions
In the 2024-OGE proposal, the Executive made available around 500 billion kwanzas for the capitalization of financial institutions such as the Agrarian Development Bank (BDA), the Venture Capital Fund and the State Guarantee Fund, for the issuance of guarantees sovereigns in favor of projects of national interest.
The 2024-OGE proposal will be discussed and voted in general in the coming days by the National Assembly to further move on to specialized discussion with social partners and a final global vote. DC/VM/CF/AMP
