Uíge – Kenya's ambassador to Angola, Joyce Khasimwa M-Maits, highlighted, on Tuesday, in the city of Uíge, the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation ties between the two countries, to improve collaboration in different areas.

Angola and Kenya signed, back in October 2023, eleven agreements to increase bilateral cooperation, in the fields of health, conservation of wildlife, maritime transport, tourism, among other areas, in a ceremony led by the two heads of state, João Lourenço and William Ruto respectively.

The diplomat, who was speaking at the meeting with businesspeople from the province of Uíge, as part of her two-day visit to that region of the country, said that the two countries can cooperate in the areas of agriculture, tourism, IT, education, health and commerce.

She recognized that Uíge Province has strong potential in the area of agriculture, hence the need for the two countries to collaborate in this field.

She also informed that a memorandum of understanding is being drawn up between the Chambers of Commerce of Angola and Kenya, the signature of which is expected before the end of this year, in the areas of agri-business, agriculture, food, industry, health and logistics.

“Yesterday, during our visit, I noticed that we need factories to package products, especially coffee,” she said.

She made clear that Kenya is interested in supporting agriculture and tourism programs in the province of Uíge, and also highlighted the Angolan Government's economic diversification program.

The diplomat highlighted the good relations that exist between Angola and Kenya since the former’s independence in November 1975.
