Luanda - Diplomat Agostinho Van-Dúnem delivered, on Tuesday, in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, to President Christine Kangalo, the credentials that enable him to perform the role of extraordinary ambassador of Angola to that country with non-resident status.

Previously, Agostinho Van-Dúnem met with the senator and minister of Foreign Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago and also of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr. Amery Browne, to whom he presented faithful copies of the letters of credentials.

The Angolan ambassador accredited to the United States of America (USA) took the opportunity to convey President João Lourenço's greetings and desire to see the ties of cooperation and friendship between the two countries strengthened.

In the book of honor that the President Christine Kangaloo invited him to sign, the Angolan diplomat expressed his commitment to working towards a future of prosperous and friendly cooperation between the two States, a press release from the Angolan Embassy in the USA to which ANGOP had access this Wednesday, states.

Trinidad and Tobago, which has the third highest per capita index in the Americas, has earned a reputation as an excellent investment location for international business.

Its economy benefits from a low rate of inflation and trade surpluses and, in addition to natural gas, it holds many natural resources and the main industry is chemicals and petrochemicals.

The Republic of Angola and Trinidad and Tobago represent economies with enormous growth potential in their regions. This factor constitutes a solid platform capable of facilitating and increasing active cooperation and reciprocal benefits.

Tourism is a growing sector, with great potential for expansion due to ecological and cultural appeals. The main export products are oil, chemicals, cocoa, coffee and fruits.

Trinidad is the largest and most populous of the 23 islands that make up the country of Trinidad and Tobago. It is an island in the Caribbean Sea, the largest of the Lesser Antilles and is located approximately 10 km away from the eastern coast of Venezuela.

The second most important city is San Fernando, which is in the southwest of the island.
