Luanda - A Civil Identification Centre at the Consulate of the Embassy of Angola in Namibia was inaugurated last Wednesday, in Windhoek, to issue identity cards and criminal records.
On the occasion, the Angolan ambassador to Namibia, Jovelina Imperial, said that the centre will serve to facilitate the process of obtaining identity cards and criminal records of Angolan citizens residing in that English-speaking country.
She said that the Angolan Government created a multisectoral commission, coordinated by the Ministry of Justice, in order to guarantee the right to citizenship for all Angolans wherever they are, both at home and abroad.
The ambassador appealed to national citizens to join the new services provided by the Angolan Consulate in Windhoek.
The act was part of the celebrations of the 45th anniversary of Angola's independence, marked on 11 November, which took place under the motto “Unity, Stability and Development”.
On his turn, Jacob Isaac, leader of the Angolan community association in Namibia, recognized the importance of the act and praised the Embassy's effort to regularize the migratory situation of national citizens.
The event was attended by members of the Angolan community residing in Namibia, as well as diplomats.
