Mbanza Kongo – Union of Angolan Journalists (SJA) has appealed to the professionals for fair news coverage when it come to address matters related to the electoral process, underway in the country.
The call was launched by the deputy secretary general of the Union of Angolan Journalists (SJA) Pedro Miguel when speaking to the press after a training session designed for professional from public and private media houses in Zaire province on Friday.
In his speech, during the event under the theme “ethics and professional deontology”, Pedro Miguel urged journalists to approach the facts with objectivity and impartiality, reporting only the truth.
He praised the professionals involved in electoral coverage, across the country, recognising that the contents of political parties have deserved equal treatment.
“We are monitoring the performance of our colleagues involved in the coverage of the electoral campaign and we have evaluated it positively, so far”, he assured.
Journalists from TPA, ANGOP, Edições Novembro, Rádio Eclésia and National Radio station (RNA) participated in the training action.
Seven political parties and a coalition of political parties are running for the August 24 election.
They are MPLA, UNITA, FNLA, PHA, N-NJANGO, PRS, APN and CASA-CE.
