Luanda – The Network of Jurisdictional Bodies and Electoral Administration of Portuguese-Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) considered Thursday in Luanda the general elections orderly and peaceful.

Speaking to the press, the head of the mission, José Carlos Barreiro, stressed that the fifth polls in Angola, held Wednesday, was carried out following international requirements and Angolan law.

He stressed that the minor constraints observed by his six teams did not harm in any way the process, as they were slight obstacles and failures on the part of certain list delegates in some polling stations.

José Carlos Barreiro said that the work of this mission started on 16 August, with the arrival of the first observers, and ended today (25 August).

He met with the National Electoral Commission (CNE), among other bodies.

He also met with the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of the Interior, with UNITA, MPLA and CASA-CE parties, as well as with some media outlets (TPA, TV ZIMBO, RNA, Rádio Ecclésia stations and Jornal de Angola newspaper).

The head of ROJAE-CPLP mission explained that the team visited 80 polling stations in the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Benguela, Cuanza Norte and Cuanza Sul, where they essentially observed the legal procedures during voting.
