Luanda - The Angolan Ambassador to Rwanda, Eduardo Octávio, said in Kigali that president João Lourenço has contributed to the peace process in the Great Lakes region and to the normalization of relations between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda.
Speaking at the celebration of the 49th anniversary of Angola’s national independence in Kigali, the diplomat assured that the Angolan government "will continue to work hard to maintain peace in the region and to strengthen the political-diplomatic relations and economic cooperation between the two countries (Angola-Rwanda)".
The diplomat gave a summary of the state of political-diplomatic relations and cooperation between Angola and Rwanda, stressing the importance of implementing the legal instruments in force, according to a press release from the diplomatic mission in Kigali that reached ANGOP on Friday.
Rwanda’s Minister of State for Regional Integration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , James Kabarebe, emphasized on the occasion that the almost five decades of self-determination in Angola "have brought remarkable achievements and progress".
Angolan gastronomy week
The Angolan Embassy in Rwanda celebrated the 49th anniversary of national independence in Kigali with an "Angolan Gastronomy Week" in which members of the Angolan community and expatriates participated.
The 49th anniversary of national independence was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international and regional organizations accredited to Rwanda, and members of the Angolan community living in Rwanda, who shared in the political and cultural moment with poetry recitals, music and dance.
