Luanda – The Angolan ambassador to Namibia, Jovelina Imperial, highlighted the commitment of the Angolan President, João Lourenço, on finding avenues to end the conflict in eastern DRC, at a time when the country will assume the Presidency of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC).

The Angolan diplomat made these references during a courtesy meeting on Thursday with the new German ambassador to Namibia, Thorsten Hutter, noting that this commitment by the Angolan statesman comes at a time when it is also Champion of the African Union for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa and President of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region.

On the occasion, Jovelina Imperial explained that the Angolan government, headed by President João Lourenço, is focused on diversifying the economy with a focus on the agricultural sector, which has registered satisfactory results.

The head of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission, who is also Dean of the African Group and Deputy Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in the Republic of Namibia, also spoke about the friendly and cooperative relations between Angola and Germany and economic development in SADC.

The German diplomat, who has already completed a mission in Zimbabwe, has been in Windhoek, the Namibian capital, for a few days, and stressed that he feels familiar with issues in the Southern African region, a topic that was highlighted at the meeting between the two ambassadors.

SADC, comprising South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, has its 43rd Summit meeting scheduled to the Angolan capital, Luanda, from 7th to 17th of August .
