Luanda – The Members of the Parliament (MP) considered tough and intense, the II legislative session of the V Legislature of the National Assembly, which ended Thursday (August 15), despite some bills still pending for the next legislature.

Speaking to the press, after the closing ceremony of the legislature, MP Joana Tomás considered the legislative year positive, saying that there were several challenges, having highlighted the approval of the law on the new Political-Administrative Division, which will, in her opinion, bring many benefits to the provinces now created, pointing out the proximity of services to municipalities as one of them.

When asked about the opposition's vote against, she minimized her colleagues' decision, encouraging the Executive to maintain focus and continue doing its work for the good of the communities.

On the other hand, I challenge public and private media bodies to invest more in women, so that they can reach the top in the management of communication companies.

On the occasion, she was delighted with the approval of the law against domestic violence, which will now see increased penalties for perpetrators.

For his part, the MP and leader of the largest opposition party (UNITA), Adalberto da Costa Júnior, also considered the Parliamentary year to have been, highlighting that the greatest expectation was related to the approval of the law on local authorities, which was not accomplished.

The parliamentarian said that the municipal process is an important path towards consolidating citizenship and developing the country.

Adalberto Júnior also highlighted that, regarding works, there was a lot of closeness and coordination, especially in the specialty, having pointed out the specific case of the National Security Law as an example.

The MP and PRS chairperson, Benedito Daniel, said that the work was hard, as a remarkable Parliamentary year, particularly at an international level, having highlighted the 55th Session of the Plenary Assembly, which the country organized this year.

“We think it was a very fruitful work that satisfies the PRS parliamentary representation. We hope, next year, to see the law approved for the institutionalization of local authorities”, he said.

The National Assembly is the legislative body that comprises 220 MPs elected by universal suffrage, 124 from the MPLA, UNITA 90, and the PRS, FNLA and PHA each, two MPs. LDN/SC/CF/DOJ
