Luanda - The Cuban ambassador to Angola, Oscar Leon Gonzalez, on Thursday in Luanda, thanked the support and solidarity of the MPLA and the Angolan Government to the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and its people, who are facing an embargo economic, financial and commercial for decades.
Speaking to the press, after a meeting with the vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the strong historical cooperation and friendship between the two parties and their respective peoples and governments.
"We have a strong cooperation framework and we must continue to work to consolidate and increasingly strengthen this relationship", he expressed.
Oscar Leon Gonzalez said that the meeting, which took place at the MPLA headquarters, served to strengthen and renew relations between Angola and Cuba.
Angola and Cuba maintain cooperative relations in several other areas, such as security, education, health, transport, public works, construction, oil, sport, culture, tourism, agriculture, among others.
The two States established diplomatic relations on November 15, 1975, four (4) days after Angola's independence, and a year later signed the General Cooperation Agreement, which gave rise to the Bilateral Commission.
Nicaragua
Also on Thursday, the MPLA's Vice-president received, in audience, the Nicaraguan ambassador to Angola, who delivered a message from the president of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) party, Daniel Ortega, and his vice-president, Rosário Murio.
He considered relations between the Sandinista National Liberation Front and the MPLA to be excellent, which are planning an extended meeting soon to strengthen cooperation between the two parties.
