Luanda - The Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ) opened on Wednesday, in Luanda, a public curriculum competition to fill 40 vacancies for new judicial magistrates for first instance courts across the country.

The launch of the public competition took place during the opening of the CSMJ plenary, chaired by the head of the Supreme Court, Joel Leonardo.

According to this body's spokesperson, Correia Bartolomeu, the competition is open to fill existing vacant positions in all first instance courts, as well as to increase the number of judges in the Provincial Court of Uíge, to be opened this year, with 15 more judges.

“There are vacancies open in the courts of appeal in Benguela, Luanda and Lubango and positions as judicial inspectors,” he disclosed.

He explained that all magistrates are competing for these judge vacancies, whose requirements will be published.

He added that a regulation will be drawn up to define the public competition's kick off and closure date, which varies from three to two months, due to the set of data presented by the candidates.

According to Correia Bartolomeu, during the meeting new presiding judges of the Courts of Appeal of Luanda, Benguela and Huíla were appointed, as well as first instance courts judges.

Law 29/22 provides for 62 first instance courts across the country, with only 38 currently in operation.
