Luanda - Members of diplomatic bodies accredited in Angola and judges of the Constitutional Court (TC) visited the National Counting Center of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) on Wednesday in Luanda.
Confirming the visit, the CNE spokesman Lucas Quilundo told the press that it allowed diplomatic corps to learn about the functioning of the institution.
Under the openness and transparency of the process, the CNE provide them (visiting delegation) with the necessary knowledge about the functioning of the Center, he said.
On the other hand, Quilundo stressed the Constitutional Court’s role, he said the existence of this institution is a clear evidence that the CNE is open in terms of the organisation of the fifth general elections.
He also highlighted the role of the Constitutional Court in settling the electoral disputes, and regulate the candidacies for political parties seeking to run in the general elections.
“This is to let them know and understand the way on how the counting of the results of the elections takes place”, he noted.
Diplomats from the United States, United Kingdom, Russia Federation, and CPLP member countries visited the CNE counting center.
Angola holds its fifth elections on August 24.
