Luanda - Angola is hosting, on14 to 16 March, the meeting of the Secretariat and Executive Committee (SEC) of the Electoral Commissions Forum of the Southern African Community (SADC), the spokesman of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Lucas Quilundo, said on Friday in Luanda.
The electoral commissioner told journalists that the forum would contribute to raising the levels of electoral knowledge in the country and provide an exchange of experience on elections in SADC member countries.
"With this forum, Angola gains in terms of projection of its image abroad, the exchange of experience with SADC countries, among others", he said.
He informed that during the event, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe and the Kingdom of Eswatini, three countries that will hold elections this year, will make a brief presentation of the preparation of the elections.
The forum was created in 1998, in Cape Town, South Africa, and its secretariat is located in Gaborone, Botswana.
It is a space for consultation between all the electoral bodies or commissions of the countries that make up SADC, and promotes, among other things, electoral observation, staff training, and the exchange of experiences among members.
The SADC Electoral Commissions Forum comprises 16 electoral bodies from the region, namely Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros Islands, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Esuatini, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
