Luanda – The Chairman of the Angolan National Electoral Commission (CNE), Manuel Pereira da Silva, heads an Observation Mission of the Electoral Commissions Forum of Southern African Development Community Countries (ECF-SADC) with the aim to monitor the general elections in Mozambique, set for October 9th.
The ECF-SADC mission, which is in Mozambique since the first day of the current month, will remain in that southern African country until the 13th of October, with the aim of observing the Legislative and Presidential Elections that are schedulwed to take place in this Indian Ocean nation.
In addition to the head of CNE, the Angolan delegation is made up by Lucas Quilundo and Isaías Chitombi, both national commissioners, the CNE´s administration and staff management director, Domingos Azevedo and director of training in electoral civic education of CNE, Adilson Paulo.
The ECF-SADC mission in general is composed of 29 members from 8 of the 15 electoral commissions that made up the organization.
The Electoral Commission Forum of SADC countries is an independent organization composed of the Electoral Management Bodies of the Region´s Member States.
The regional organization has been in force since July 1998 and is made up of the Electoral Commissions of Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Seychelles, Tanzania, Zambia, Zanzibar and Zimbabwe.
