Luanda - Angola and Turkey on Tuesday in Luanda, analyzed the existing cooperation between the two nations during an audience Angola’s President João Lourenço granted to the ambassador of that country, Ufuk Ekici.

The diplomat, at the end of his mission, travelled to the Presidential Palace, where he said goodbye to the Angolan Head of State.

Speaking to the press, Ufuk Ekici said the Turkish government is in favor of strengthening economic cooperation with the Angolan authorities to improve the partnership between the two countries.

According to the diplomat, his country's government has been promoting Angola's image in Turkish economic circles, encouraging local companies to invest more and in the Southern African country.

‘Economic and political relations are excellent, but we need to increase the economic relationship between the two countries,’ the diplomat said.

Diplomatic relations between Angola and Turkey date back to 1980. The two countries have cooperation agreements in the areas of trade, agriculture, education, culture, defense, justice, sports, fisheries, science and technology, oil and gas and industry.

In Angola, Turkey has investments in Luanda and Uíge provinces in the areas of industry, commerce, education and construction.

Cooperation is considered good and the two governments have made efforts to increase it in a wide variety of areas.

In addition to other legal instruments, Angola and Turkey have signed a memo between the aeronautical authorities, as well as a Verbal Process of the First Session of the Joint Commission for Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.AFL/ART/AMP
